About

Background

I grew up in North Ryde, Sydney. I studied Actuarial Studies at Macquarie University after doing well in mathematics at school.

During university, I spent as much time tutoring and powerlifting as I did studying. The degree still shaped my thinking in statistics, which later led me toward machine learning and data science.

After graduating, I took time away from a traditional corporate path, travelled, and continued tutoring.

Since then, my work has moved across tutoring, a health-tech startup, machine learning, firmware engineering, backend development, and test automation.

The common thread has been following interesting problems, learning quickly, and working with good people.

Learning to Meditate

In 2016, I attended my first 10-day Vipassana retreat in the S.N. Goenka tradition. I've continued practicing since, attending retreats yearly and meditating daily.

Vipassana has helped me become more aware of intention—whether actions come from fear, approval-seeking, or genuine interest.

In practice, it has influenced how I make decisions, especially around career direction and pacing. It has made it easier to step back, change direction, or take breaks when needed.

What I'm Tinkering With

Pali Notes App

A simple tool to help people learn Pali, the language of early Buddhist texts. It provides vocabulary cards with search and filtering, based on Introduction to Pali by A.K. Warder.

YouTube Channel

I'm experimenting with making videos to explore ideas and learn the craft of content creation. Still early, but enjoyable.
